Stagecraft

The purpose of this class is to introduce students to design techniques used in the lighting and the creation of sets for theatrical productions.  Students learn to identify, design, and build sets to accommodate different types of stages.  They also learn how to design two-and three-dimensional scenery and become familiar with the ways in which they are used to create theatrical reality. Students become proficient with hand and power tools needed for set production. Constructing the set for the end of the year production comprises the major building component of the course.

Lighting

Students in this course are introduced to design techniques used in the lighting of sets.  They learn to identify and hang lighting instruments, as well as to determine the correct wattage amounts per dimmer.  Students spend much of the term analyzing concert lighting plots, viewing professional light shows, then creating light shows around different styles of music.
