Secondary School Placement

North Country School’s Secondary School Placement Program is designed to assist 9th graders in selecting an appropriate secondary school and to help them prepare for and navigate the application process successfully.

The Placement Advisor keeps families informed throughout the process with informational letters that begin in late summer, a status update letter during the winter break, as well as regular responses to inquiries via email and telephone. When needed the Placement Advisor also works with a student's educational consultant to assure that efforts on the student's behalf are well coordinated.

The students receive weekly review of SSAT test-taking strategies, take timed practice tests for a six-week period prior to the exams, work on essays to help them prepare their applications, and meet with visiting secondary school admissions officers throughout the fall term. Completed admissions packets are assembled and mailed by our staff. 

North Country School does all it can to ensure that the next school will meet the social, emotional, academic, and financial needs of our graduating 9th grade students.
