Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the coming academic year is determined annually in January. Full boarding tuition for 2010-11 is $50,750. Day student tuition is $19,900.

The school offers several payment options, including a monthly payment plan. North Country School’s tuition includes books, activities, tutoring, counseling, horseback riding, and skiing. The ESL program fee is $4,000 for 2009-10. There are modest charges for remedial classes, a Spanish trip, and extended class trips for eighth and ninth graders. The only additional fees are for optional rental ski equipment — generally considered a boon as it eliminates the need to repurchase costly gear as a child grows.

Financial aid is offered through a standardized process used by most independent schools. To apply for financial, families must complete a form from School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, NJ. This organization will analyze  eligibility for financial aid, generate a report suggesting a potential “family contribution” to educational expenses, and then send this information to the desired schools. Financial aid offered by North Country School is based upon need and financed by the school’s private endowment, as neither state nor federal programs exist to assist independent elementary or middle schools. While the school’s scholarship moneys are made available to as many students as possible, it is not always within our power to accommodate the entire need a family may have. Financial aid determinations at North Country School are made in the spring and summer preceding the September of enrollment.

In order to qualify for financial aid, we ask that families go through the admissions process first with our school application. We will then send the SSS aid form for the appropriate year and ask families to return it to that firm’s Princeton address, along with a copy of your most recent IRS return and the fee of $22.00 required by the School and Student Service.
